Reimundo Sosa
Reimundo Sosa is a Juno Award nominee, professional percussionist, composer, and educator living in Toronto, ON. Born in Havana Cuba, Reimundo began playing percussion in the street when he was just six years old. He became fascinated with Cuban folkloric music and began to study Rumba, Bata drums, the traditions of Santeria and the music of the Orishas. At ten years of age he participated in his first recording with a Cuba/France project called P18. At 19 years of age, Reimundo was given a contract with the folkloric company named JJ, and was soon classified as a musician of the first level. Immediately he began to travel to Martinique, and then moved to Canada in 2009. Reimundo has played and toured across Canada and the USA with famous and respected musicians including: Jane Bunnett, Hilario Duran, Chucho Valdez, Miguel De Armas, Iroko Project, Mark Kelso, BONGO & B Entertainment, The Sheep Dogs, Natalie Cole, The Battle of Santiago, Glenda Del E , Axel Tosca , Cardoso El Rumbero, iya iré , Yosvani Castañeda , Horacio Hernandez el Negro ,David Virelles, Roman Diaz, Roberto Riveron, Alexis Baro, Roland Hunter, Luis Orbegoso, Bobby Carcasses, Magdelys Sav, Frank Durand, Rueben Esguerra, Jorge Betancourt, Kevin Barreto, Telmary Diaz, Ogguere, Alexander Brown, Jorge Maza, Brownman Ali, Barbaro Teuntor, and Femi Kuti…to name a few. Reimundo also has played in the Pan American Games Toronto 2015.
