Pipo Romero
Pipo Romero releases his first ever cover: a powerful solo guitar interpretation of Carlos Gardel’s iconic “Por una cabeza.” Renowned Spanish acoustic guitarist and composer Pipo Romero unveils a deeply personal version of “Por una cabeza”, the timeless tango by Carlos Gardel, arranged and performed entirely on a steel-string acoustic guitar. Known for his signature style “Spanish Acoustic Fingerstyle”, Romero brings a unique sensibility to this melody, honoring its vocal origin while reimagining it with melodic clarity, rhythmic subtlety, and emotional depth. This is the first single from his upcoming album Alborada (to be released in October 2025), a work that blends Spanish and Atlantic folk influences into a contemporary acoustic language. Romero, a native of Cádiz – a historic gateway between Spain and Latin America – chose this piece for its cultural proximity and universal recognition. His arrangement is inspired both by classic tango interpretations and the string section of the film Easy Virtue, while remaining fully faithful to the vocal phrasing of Gardel’s original performance.
